Pay & Benefits

Pay

As a Reservist you are paid on an hourly rate rather than a salary. Pay rates depend on the role you are in and your rank; your pay will increase as move through the ranks.

Army:

As an Army Reserve soldier, the minimum remuneration you will be paid from day one is a daily rate of $105.39. Your remuneration will increase upon graduation of your recruit course to a daily rate of $119.41 and will continue to increase on promotion and seniority.

The minimum remuneration for a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve is a daily rate of $139.28 and will continue to increase on promotion and seniority.

Navy:

Reservists in the Navy are paid on a graduating pay scale depending on rank. You will be paid for your attendance on an hourly basis.

Clothing & Equipment

As a member of the Reserve Force, you are issued clothing and equipment aligned to your chosen trade.

Deployment

As a Reservist, there is an expectation that there is a possibility that you will deploy operational overseas.  If this was to occur, your pay and conditions of service would change to reflect our operational situation.

Fitness

Being fit and active is an important part of any reserve role and as such we promote an active lifestyle. If you live close to a Defence area with a gym you may be eligible to work-out there for free.
